Charles Shelton

MEET OUR HOMETOWN HERO

Charles Shelton is a retired United States Navy veteran who enlisted in 1979 and served for six years, six days, and six hours. A natural problem-solver, he worked as a torpedoman, later becoming a regional maintenance supervisor for apartment complexes after his military career.

Charles and his wife Brenda have lived in their Pawtucket, Rhode Island, home for 16 years. The house was built in 1946, lacks central air, and struggles to hold heat in New England’s cold winters; the living room is often 5 degrees colder than the bedroom! With multiple drafts, uneven temperatures, and constant running of baseboard heat or window units, comfort has become a luxury.

Charles has five children and spends his free time staying active, often on his bicycle. His dream is simple: to be warm enough to enjoy his home and spend more time with family without relying on space heaters and blankets.

READY TO NOMINATE A HOMETOWN HERO?

Active-duty military, reserve military, veterans of the US Armed Forces, and first responders are eligible nominees for the program, provided they reside within the service areas of USA Insulation in our participating locations.

Nominees must explain how whole-home insulation would make a difference in their homes. Hometown Heroes is a great opportunity to show our appreciation for those who serve our communities, and we are excited to bring this program to more cities across the country.
